How to Attract the Right Traffic

Getting clicks through to your site shows that people are aware of its existence and were sufficiently interested to follow the link or a friend’s recommendation – no bad thing. However, a lot can be lost in unqualified statistics. After all, it’s not a lot of use to you if your site receives thousands of visits every day but only converts a tiny fraction of those into any meaningful business.

This is why you have to make sure that you’re attracting the right audience in the first instance. Making sure that potential customers come on to your site’s pages and not just inquisitive folks in research-mode. So how can you make sure you attract the right traffic?

Adding Focus to Your SEO for Special Events and Promotions

There are occasions where you have something special to shout about. Perhaps you’re trying to get one up on the competition for Christmas searchers, maybe you’ve got a special sale coming up. Whatever it is, you will want to make sure that your pages are given prominence.

Search engine optimisation is simple enough in principle. You tell the search engines what your page is all about through keywords and then build authority for the page and terms. The more effective you are at doing this, the better your chances of getting to the top of Google.

However, when you have promotions that only last for a few weeks, how can you get your pages to rank for new keywords? We all know that pages with greater age are usually given greater prominence in the rankings, so already, if you are creating new content, you could be at a disadvantage. But don’t be perturbed, there’s plenty that you can do.

How Can You Guarantee Quality Traffic to a Website?

Well, right from the outset I have to start with a slight negative. There is no way of ensuring that only the most targeted traffic ends up visiting your site. It is one of the many impossibilities created by the abundance of searches and related terms spread across the search engines.

That said, there’s no reason why you can’t try.

Traffic is good. Whether or not we want to admit it, ultimately that is usually the first metric we see for the development of any site. If you have invested time and money into SEO or any other form of online marketing, you want to have tangible statistics to back up claims of effectiveness. Search engine rankings are useful in this case, but ultimately it will be the amount of people that followed up their searches and landed on your pages that count.
