SEO comes at a cost. Whether that is simply your investment in time or having to pay for a specialist SEO consultant or agency, it is far from being free. One thing it is though, is essential. You simply can’t have a successful website without adhering to some SEO principles.

Search engines don’t just give sites rankings. A website has to earn it. They have to show the search engine exactly what they do and persuade them that they deserve a position in the upper echelons of their listings. Without a decent presence within the search engines, you will struggle to find any meaningful traffic. Whilst there are alternative marketing avenues open, SEO remains the preeminent technique purely because of the power of search engines.

What can an SEO Consultant do for you?

If the idea of implementing SEO sounds as foreign to you as a rare dialect from the Amazon basin, you might want to enlist professional help. But before you do so there may be two key questions that you need answering; 1) why does my site need SEO? 2) How is an SEO Consultant going to help?

Unfortunately there’s no simple one-size-fits-all answer as every business, just as every SEO Consultant or Agency, is unique. But by investigating your site and the help available to it, you should be able to make an informed decision that will ultimately prove hugely beneficial.

Handing Over Your Website to an SEO Expert

When you’ve had no experience whatsoever in promoting a website, investing in SEO can seem like a leap into an unknown void. It can be particularly difficult if you’ve been involved with the development of the site, or own the company that it promotes. You don’t want anything to ruin your project.

While this is completely understandable, you have to be able to accept SEO advice otherwise you could be jeopardising all of the hard work you’ve put in. Unfortunately, it is an SEO professional’s job to diagnose problems and offer solutions; therefore, this is often the source of primary conflict and an area where you need to be able to let go most.

Live on the BBC

I popped in today for a live discussion with BBC Radio Solent this morning on social networking.

It was in reaction to the new launch of Saga Zone the social networking portal aimed specifically at the over 50s.  The discussion discussed various points including the pros and cons of social networking and its impact on society.
