There’s no point in me telling you that content is important for SEO. If you’re not already aware of that then I should probably stop here and now. However, the one issue that many site owners have with their copy is when to freshen it up and how to go about this.
Now, as with most things in SEO, there isn’t a single rule governing this side of site optimisation. It’s widely accepted that on-page content does need to be reviewed; however, when it comes to the regularity of these updates, there is a fair amount of disagreement.
You see, Google doesn’t want you to be updating your homepage every day. It’s just not necessary and is likely to look unnatural. However, it also probably won’t look too kindly on a site that never updates any text, ever. Essentially you need to find a balance.

Fundamentally speaking, any link (legally sourced of course) will have a positive effect on your site – one way or another. In the past links through social networking sites were simply seen as a way of building a little publicity and traffic; however it was largely accepted that they had zero influence on rankings or SEO.
Today this isn’t the case, well not exactly anyway. The major search engines have made great strides in their ability to stream information from social media platforms and effectively judge authority within this sphere. In turn this has led them to openly admit that they do use influence as a ranking factor within their SERPs – albeit probably not a major one.
Numerous people have run tests on solely promoting posts or random pages through Twitter and found that rankings can be achieved – often pretty decent ones at that. However, these do tend to be temporary, often a few days, before they start slipping (unless link building is applied of course).

When you first start optimising a website you could be forgiven for thinking that your efforts were entirely in vain. More often than not you won’t see any noticeable changes in your online visibility for days, maybe even weeks.
However, the stronger your site becomes, the quicker this process will become.
Take an objective look at it for a moment. Google is good at tracking down new content, however it is already dealing with millions of other new pages on other sites each day. If your site is relatively fresh you might not even have slipped onto their radar yet. You might, for all intents and purposes, be invisible.

In Google’s last update they have reinforced their web master guidelines by blocking some of the main DIY software applications such as Web Ceo and Web Position Gold.
Google doesn’t like automated software accessing its search engine as it uses resources and slows things up so you can understand why they are keen to stomp it out but people also want to know where they are ranking so we have an issue.
This is causing seo’s in general big problems as many applications seem to have been hit but I am sure when these big companies put their heads together they will find a fix.
There are still applications that can get through but it means that people will now more than ever need to ensure they follow Google’s guidelines to avoid getting their IP’s blocked.
