Can You Really Rely on Cheap SEO?

There’s an old adage that you get what you pay for.  So if you pay top dollar, you can expect the very best, whilst of course the opposite is true of anything that costs next to nothing. However, is it really possible to get cheap SEO without sacrificing quality?

There are pros and cons when you look to cut corners, that’s inevitable. So here are a few things to look out for when it comes to saving a few pounds on cheap SEO:

1. Don’t believe unrealistic promises

If somebody is offering cheap SEO, don’t get lured in by the promise of untold fortunes and a guaranteed top ranking in Google. Search engine optimisation, when done properly, will take time. If they are providing an ethically run service, then they will struggle to achieve such lofty positions in a short period of time.

Cheap SEO

STOP!

If you are looking for cheap SEO you really need to evaluate what you are going to get. Now I am not saying it does not exist because I know it does. The problem is that you are very unlikely to get anything positive from it unless you are:

a) Very Lucky
b) In a very uncompetitive industry

When people go looking for cheap SEO they normally find one thing and that is disappointment. I am aware of companies charging £20 per month for SEO Services as I have to deal with allot of the fallout when things have either gone wrong or the penny drops that nothing is really being done.

Don’t become one of these statistics make sure before you use anyone regardless of the price you find out the following:

  1. What will be done on a monthly basis
  2. What type of reporting you will get
  3. What type of rankings reports you will get to show your gains

I have heard some companies will sell SEO as a one off service and this is no good as to be really successful in the natural search results you need to work on a monthly basis.

Don’t get caught out and my advice is if you cant afford to do it properly don’t! Just get a good book and implement yourself as you are likely to see much better results this way.

The True Cost of Bad SEO

16 September, 2008 3:36 pm | Posted by Ben Norman

SEO or Search Engine Optimisation when implemented correctly can propel a website up the search engines natural rankings unleashing a mass of targeted and well converting traffic.

The problem is when done badly SEO can effectively kill your websites online visibility by getting you removed from the search engines. This may sound like a horror story that cannot possibly be true but unfortunately it is.

There are many bad so called SEO Specialists out there that get results by spamming the search engines and using black hat techniques such as:

  • Keyword Stuffing
  • Doorway Pages
  • Invisible Text

These tactics can increase your rankings but it will only be a temporary fix (long enough for them to collect their fee). But very soon the search engines cotton on and realise what is going on and then your website gets punished.

This can be anything from a temporary slap down the rankings or they could just ban you indefinitely meaning your website would not be found in the search engines.

This may sound harsh but the search engines have these rules to stop the system being manipulated and keep results relevant.

Remember, you get what you pay for and if your paying only a couple of hundred pounds then I would question the value of what you are going to get back, after all how much time can be put in for that?

Think how much your website and rankings are worth to you and the problems caused by risking it all for a cheap deal.
