Should Search Engines Focus on Other Ranking Factors?

This recent clampdown on content farms has thrown up a lot of debate within the SEO industry. Some see is as a death knell for article marketing, others believe that scrapers will find it increasingly difficult to rank; however, the overriding issue for me is that Google has clearly highlight the fallibility the Google algorithm and its reliance on links and content.

What do links really indicate these days? So many people are buying and selling them, that telling a natural link from an ‘illegally’ sourced one is increasingly difficult. JC Penney get the boot for having a few dodgy ones, whilst thousands of others carry on regardless. There’s a disparity that rightly irks many SEOs and site owners.

How Will Recent Search Engine Updates Affect SEO?

If you’ve been following the latest online news with even a casual interest, you will no doubt have read a good deal about the various changes going on with the three major search engines: Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Google are currently in the process of rolling of their real-time element within the search engine results. Bing too have adopted these Twitter updates and will soon be getting Facebook messages to display too. So what does this mean for SEO? Well, not a lot really. Yes, it is a significant change and the SERPs pages will look different; but ultimately it won’t affect your ability to optimise for certain key phrases and achieve a high level ranking.

Will SEO Ever Be An Exact Science?

Newcomers to the world of Internet marketing might be surprised to hear and SEO Consultant suggesting that SEO isn’t an exact science. So what is it? How does it work? And what will it take to get to the bottom of how it all works?

Well, expert or not, it’s very unlikely that anybody can truly say that they have the one finite key to exceptional SEO. The reason for this is that SEO is determined by the search engines. Their algorithms are what ultimately decides where a website ranks; unfortunately Google and friends aren’t very forthcoming when it comes to revealing their inner workings.
