How a Blog Can Improve your Search Engine Ranking

You’ll no doubt have noticed that there are a lot of business sites sporting blogs; in fact some have nothing but. If you haven’t already integrated one into your website, you may be left wondering what all the fuss is about.

Well, first and foremost, a blog is an opportunity for you to show off your industry expertise. If your company is at the forefront of new innovations, or is in a sector that is undergoing major changes, you want to be able to show visitors and clients exactly what is going on. If people don’t come to you for news, they’ll go elsewhere it’s as simple as that.

But then there is the opposite argument that you’re not a news source, so why should you bother trying to become one? Well, the answer is fairly simple, traffic. If you can create an engaging blog that is full of useful information that will appeal to a wide range of people, your site’s popularity will soar.

You don’t need to be the best writer in the world and your posts needn’t be epic masterpieces; it’s just about communicating with your audience and providing a social mouthpiece. By passing on a little of your knowledge, you can find yourself growing trust and attract regular visitors who are, in turn, more likely to use your services.

But there is a second function to all this. As with all SEO techniques, there is another benefit of integrating a blog, and one that may not be immediately obvious. Quite simply it all comes down to original content.

There’s nothing that search engines like more than some fresh copy and new pages to index. As your site grows, you will be rewarded with extra authority and increased visibility. It’s a double benefit!
