More and more people are becoming familiar with how to use videos as a way to market their product. The rise of social media sites such as YouTube have had a dramatic impact on this contribution, as registered users can upload their content onto the Internet and share their videos with other users online. In an earlier post we looked at social media’s contribution to SEO and discussed the views of Duane Forrester, a Senior Product Manager with Bing’s Webmaster Program. Forrester believed that social media factors are more significant than linking back to your website and building content for search engine ranking factors on Bing.
With this in mind we turn our attention to the power of using YouTube, the popular video hosting website where users can upload and share video content. YouTube was set up in 2005 and created by former PayPal employees Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim who sold the company to Google in November 2006 for $1.65 billion.
