Anyone working in SEO will tell you of the importance of keywords in both on-site and off-site web copy. However it isn’t just about throwing in keywords that you either want to rank for or think you should rank for – there’s a whole lot more to it than that.
The science of using keywords in your website’s copy is really about the way you can research and use empirical data to determine the best ones to target for your website. The art of using keywords is really down to your writer’s ability to implement these effectively so that the copy reads well to both the search engines and the users. If you’re using content for your website or other online marketing material you have probably asked yourself, ‘how many keywords should I be using within each piece of content?’ Keywords form part of the optimisation process for your website and they are the key terms, words and phrases that you use within written text. It’s been widely accepted that writing articles related to your industry or business is a great way of driving additional traffic to your site and building links. Whilst this may be so, many people can often overstate the power of article marketing or worse totally undermine their efforts by writing sloppy copy.
Writing articles is an affordable and effective way of driving traffic to your site, not only that but it can increase your site’s authority within search engines. This will allow your site to appear higher up in the SERPs for your desired keywords. So you can see that writing articles has a two pronged effect of driving traffic; the article itself can be used to attract custom and refer users to your site, whilst the sheer presence and referral of a link to your site will help you rise up the rankings, in theory that is.

In order for content to be effective you really need to think about what you should be displaying on your website pages. More importantly any content that you write, whether that’s a blog post, a website page, a press release or indeed any other written content, it needs to be optimised to really make sure the content is used to its full potential.
Choosing the most effective methods for page optimisation means that search engines will value your site more in terms of relevancy and authorisation and so your site will appear higher up in the search engine results pages (SERPs). This applies to all written content; whether it’s a small or large piece, it should all be optimised.

We are all susceptible to the odd typo. They can sneak in when you’re least expecting it and somehow fall under the radar, not helping your text make the impact that you initially intended.
Of course this can have varying degrees of importance. If you make a tiny mistake in a massive bulk of text on a page other than your homepage, it is unlikely to cause any major issues. However, if the frequency and severity of such errors increases, then you could find that you are jeopardising the quality of your pages and their ranking within search engines.

The actual content of a website is one of the most important aspects, both in terms of search engine performance and presenting your business to visitors. It is therefore essential that you choose your words wisely and make sure your pages are populated with copy that really represents you.
It’s easy to be flippant about any aspect of website development. Sometimes other aspects of the process take up more of your time or you attribute importance to one thing more than another. But you should never overlook copy, not at least if you want your website to succeed of course.

Content is part of the whole SEO services package. Whilst we all talk about implementing keywords, creating embedded word links and Meta behind the scenes, it is the on-page copy that will ultimately sway visitors and search engines alike to take you seriously.
The importance, therefore, of getting your website’s content right can hardly be overstated. Despite this though, many websites still choose to ignore it; leaving dozens of pages bare or creating vapid text that neither informs nor engages. It could be undermining your site and your business.

SEO is a multi-faceted set of procedures. Whilst many things go into optimising a website, at the centre of it all is your content.
Each page of your website should have copy. Search engines can only understand language; whether it’s implemented in Meta, Alt tags or on page content, the text is essential. Key terms can be used throughout to highlight search engines exactly what your pages are all about and encourage them to rank you for those few core phrases. But your website copy can also do much more.
