Cheap SEO

STOP!

If you are looking for cheap SEO you really need to evaluate what you are going to get. Now I am not saying it does not exist because I know it does. The problem is that you are very unlikely to get anything positive from it unless you are:

a) Very Lucky
b) In a very uncompetitive industry

When people go looking for cheap SEO they normally find one thing and that is disappointment. I am aware of companies charging £20 per month for SEO Services as I have to deal with allot of the fallout when things have either gone wrong or the penny drops that nothing is really being done.

Don’t become one of these statistics make sure before you use anyone regardless of the price you find out the following:

  1. What will be done on a monthly basis
  2. What type of reporting you will get
  3. What type of rankings reports you will get to show your gains

I have heard some companies will sell SEO as a one off service and this is no good as to be really successful in the natural search results you need to work on a monthly basis.

Don’t get caught out and my advice is if you cant afford to do it properly don’t! Just get a good book and implement yourself as you are likely to see much better results this way.

Are You Hiding Text?

8 December, 2008 4:46 pm | Posted by Ben Norman

I still find many sites that are using hidden text to stuff their keywords within a the pages of their websites to get higher rankings.

This is a big no no and should defiantly be avoided as when the search engines twig as to what you are doing you will more than likely get your domain banned.

In some instances its not the website owners doing it can be down to the SEO Consultant hired to do the job but never the less the website is the entity that will end up getting banned.

To check to see if you have hidden text on ny of your pages just navigate to the page and press CTRL & A which will select all the text on the page and if there is and hidden text you will be able to see it.

Is Your Content Going Mouldy

3 December, 2008 1:23 pm | Posted by Ben Norman

The search engines love fresh, up to date and unique content. Are you giving it to them?

Now if you have a conventional business website that has the normal service pages and about us section your probably not going to find it a viable option to keep changing that content. Once you have got it right you will want to keep it that way.

So how do you keep the search engines happy? Well there are plenty of ways of filling your site with new unique content including:

  • Blogging
  • Resources section
  • White papers
  • Articles
  • Forum
  • News section

The above are all great ways of getting fresh content onto your website regularly and I would advise your website have at least one of them to ensure your content doesn’t go mouldy.

Is Your Website Dressed for Success?

2 December, 2008 5:11 pm | Posted by Ben Norman

This may sound like a very silly question but it actually makes a lot of sence.

I see many sites where the owners are looking to increase their conversions by working on search engine optimisation yet the design of the site inspires no confidence what so ever.

This makes delivering targeted traffic a waste of time as nearly all the traffic turning up would probably be put of buying or contacting and hit the back button.

Searchers are now more than ever looking at the visual side of your site as a good insight to you being a proper company so make sure you site is dressed for success!

2 Top Tips for SEO Copywriting

1 December, 2008 11:47 am | Posted by Ben Norman

Getting your copy right is a fundamental part of having a website that converts well. After all what is the point delivering great traffic to a website when that’s as far as it gets?

When writing your copy there a 2 things to remember:

1. Write it for the searcher not the search engines

If you write for the searcher it will convert better and make more sense and it is still possible to get high search engine placements.

2. Include the main keywords you are trying to rank for

For some reason when people write copy then tend to totally forget the SEO aspect and not mention their keywords. Now I’m not saying to crowbar them in all over the place but just remember to use them where appropriate.

SEO copywriting is a skill and must be done correctly to really get your website converting so why not try changing some of the copy on your homepage and see if it effects your conversions for the better!
