I was doing some research on Yahoo yesterday and it got me thinking does anyone really use yahoo that seriously for business?
I have 2 of my own sites that rank really well on Yahoo for terms that convert well on Google yet I recall 1 conversion in say the last 2 years that came from Yahoo.
I know the stats will say 7% of UK search traffic is going through Yahoo but does it really convert well for business? I would answer my own question with a “no it doesn’t”
I think the more popular belief that if you want to get good traffic to your business then you need to be ranked well in Google is very much true.
I would like to note that I believe that there must be businesses out there doing very well out of Yahoo I just don’t happen to operate in those sectors I guess!
But if you do please let me know because id love to prove that business online is just coming down to your Google position as that would put us in a very vulnerable position.

Are you using Twitter? then I’d love it if you followed me!
If your not using it yet then why not give it a go and see how easy it is to get your own network going and keep them up to date with what you are up to.

Do you spam the search engines?
Now before you say no consider this. Many companies will have a UK and US presence and so have a .com and .co.uk website address. This is fine and a good idea but now is when it normally goes wrong.
Instead of having the website hosted on one of the website addresses and then redirecting the other to it using a 301 redirect they go and put the content on both sites. Bad move and thus you are spamming the search engines and will likely have one of them removed as this is classed as duplicate content.
Now as i said the best way to do this is to use a 301 redirect to redirect the domain you are not going to use at the one you are. Which one you use is down to you and there arguments for both that I wont go into here but just ensue you don’t have sites that are a carbon copy of each other online as it will do you no good.
